we already have a dog (cocker spaniel about 2 yrs old called Lady) anyway shes still quite a puppy (although weve noticed she has got more mature) but shes still a little hyper and chewy and nicks stuff we was thinking of getting her a friend maybe and i like the sound of a grate dane (my mum had one when she was little and loved it) anyway is it the right dog for me maybe?? we are planning on moving house to a little viliage town thing near a moor and the garden is a good size. any tips or anything much apriciated x weve tried some dog kennels and we took one home once and it tried to attack our dog so we had to take it back so mums like scared of taking kennel ones home since the other one acted fine (said it was good with other dogs ect but when we got it home it all changed) shes just too scred for our dogs safety
Answer
Great Danes typically needs fields, not gardens. These dogs weigh well over 100 pounds. Although they are great animals, they do not do well without lots of exercise and a lot of room to go. If you want to get a playmate for your current dog, stick to a smaller breed, such as a Sheltie or another Cocker Spaniel.
